CharityCDs.co.uk - helping people help others

How to reduce your costs

For individuals or groups to participate in the scheme offered by CharityCDs the only cost that is usually involved is sending the CDs and DVDs to our offices for recycling.

We have tried very hard to make sure that no other costs are involved, for instance we provide all the neccessary guidance, experience and publicity materials that are usually involved in setting up a scheme for your charity or group.

We do however appreciate that every penny saved is another penny that can go towards helping others, so below are some details on how to save money in transportation costs.

Reducing waste

One easy way of reducing your costs is to try and maximise the number of CDs and DVDs that will meet our criteria for recycling.

There are also several cheap courier deals available, where it can cost approximately £10 to send up to 25kg.

For instance DHL currently offer a £10 deal at Staples, or you can try companies such as Parcel 2 Go which offer a similar deal.

Timing

Rather than sending us everything in one go it may be worth batch sending your CDs and DVDs to us. This means you can set up the scheme as an ongoing fund raiser, sending in batches of CDs and DVDs each week, fortnight, or month, depending on your wishes.

Alternatively you can ask your members to send the CDs and DVDs in to us directly. We will specify a unique code for them to label the packages with so that they are credited to your CharityCDs account. In this way all of the transport costs can be met by your supporters rather than the organisation itself.
